If well taken care of, such moccasins can last for years if not decades. – Shoes that last and that can be repaired easily. Leather is (like) skin, it is wonderful at regulating moisture and temperature. No glue or synthetic lining that would make your feet sweaty and smelly. Just a layer of leather in between your feet and the ground. I t doesn’t matter if your feet are very large or very thin, nor if one foot is longer or wider than the other, with our patterns, everyone gets a chance to have shoes that truly fit them. – They are designed to be easily adjusted to any kind of morphology type, opposed to patterns/shoes in standard sizes. What Set Our Moccasins Apart From What Is Available on the Market: They are suitable to wear outdoors and on all types of grounds, but they also make very good indoor shoes. They are perfect for protecting your feet from sharp objects, dirt, etc., while simultaneously allowing you to feel the ground’s texture. In fact, they act and feel just like a second-skin. This tab can be fringed, trimmed in points, or left straight. In the days of the ancient ones, heel tabs sewn on the moccasins dragged along the ground and covered tracks. A heel tab can be added with a whip stitch, if desired. These are known as center-seam moccasins in that they are usually made from one piece of leather that is sewed together at the vamp front.Any other puckered spots on the outside can be pounded flat with a wood mallet. It is okay if the toe is puckered like a rabbit's nose-this is often seen on moccasins and is rather cute.This will make the moccasin stronger and will also help to prevent the seam from showing on the outside. When this seam is finished, do not cut off the sinew make a stitch or two to secure the seam and then go back down the seam to make a narrow welt along the length of the seam by turning down the seam salvage and stitching it in place.Using a whip stitch (see Diagram 2 above) and beginning at toe, stitch up to the ankle in front.Remember to keep the knots on all seams on the outside so as not to irritate the tender foot inside.
You can purchase artificial sinew, which is just as strong and cheaper.įor a smoother look, hide the stitching inside the moccasin by sewing it inside out. Sinew is the traditional "thread" to use for sewing items made from hide.
